The Challenge

Pfizer was transforming a legacy research laboratory into the first of a new generation of research facilities within its primary R&D campus. The space was completely gutted and rebuilt to support advanced research equipment, extensive laboratory gas distribution, and modern clean laboratory standards. As the first of these new laboratories, and a showcase for Pfizer leadership and potential investors, the project had a high level of visibility and an aggressive delivery schedule. Bringing it together required close coordination across trades, engineers, vendors, and Pfizer stakeholders while navigating long-lead equipment and evolving field conditions.

What I Led

• Led project execution across engineering, field operations, subcontractors, and Pfizer stakeholders throughout construction.

• Managed procurement, scheduling, and trade coordination to maintain an aggressive delivery timeline despite long-lead equipment constraints.

• Directed design revisions, field issue resolution, and commissioning activities for specialized laboratory utilities and advanced research equipment.

Outcome

The laboratory was delivered on schedule despite the aggressive timeline and passed commissioning without major issues. The finished space met Pfizer's clean laboratory performance requirements, supported new research capabilities, and received positive recognition from Pfizer leadership. As the first of a new generation of research spaces, it also served as a model for future laboratory modernization efforts.
