The Challenge

Pfizer was converting a legacy research laboratory into a next-generation clean laboratory with significantly higher ventilation and environmental performance requirements. The new HVAC systems had to support those requirements while integrating with infrastructure serving the rest of the active facility. As construction progressed, it became clear that major portions of the original HVAC design would need to be reworked. I collaborated directly with the engineers of record to develop practical, constructible solutions while keeping the project moving and maintaining its performance requirements.

What I Led

• Led coordination between engineering, field operations, subcontractors, and Pfizer facility stakeholders throughout construction.

• Directed collaborative redesign efforts with the engineers of record to resolve critical HVAC design issues.

• Managed procurement, scheduling, and trade coordination while maintaining project communication across an active research campus.

Outcome

The redesigned HVAC system met the laboratory's stringent ventilation requirements while integrating with the building's existing infrastructure. Despite the significant redesign required during construction, the project was successfully commissioned and turned over on schedule, providing Pfizer with the infrastructure needed to support expanded research capabilities.
